Meet Anerlee & Leng
Habitat partner family, Anerlee and Leng, just celebrated their first New Year’s Day in a home of their very own! Since moving to their Habitat home in Sun Prairie on Dec. 19, Anerlee, Leng, and their four children; five-year-old Evien, three-year-old Jameson, two-year-old Grayson, and one-year-old Hailey, have been enjoying having safety and stability for their family.
Anerlee was born and raised in Detroit and moved to Madison in 2017 to pursue a degree in nursing. Her husband, Leng, was born in a refugee camp in Thailand and moved to the U.S. in 2005. Together, they’ve always dreamed of having a home – a permanent roof over their heads.
Unfortunately, because of the increasing cost of housing in Dane County, this was difficult to obtain. “My family has been struggling to find a safe, healthy environment to live in,” Anerlee said. “There was a lot of gun violence where we lived and there were fights everyday. As a mom, it’s always hard to see stuff like that going on.”
“Having a home means stability and having a safe place to be. It is definitely a dream come true,” Anerlee added. “The boys really get pumped up and I know they are so excited for it. Although they’re little, they saw the process and we’ve been explaining to them since day one that we’re volunteering and able to be a part of the construction of our home and see it come to life.”
Congratulations, Anerlee and Leng, on achieving your dream of homeownership!
