Since 1987, Habitat has built 319 homes in Dane County and strengthened neighborhoods in 18 Dane County communities.
Habitat doesn’t give away free homes: Habitat partner families help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay a low- to no-interest 30-year mortgage, capped at 28% of their income.
Homeowners contribute to the economy: During our last fiscal year, Habitat homeowners paid more than $660,000 in property taxes in Dane County.
Habitat wears a lot of (hard) hats: In addition to building new houses, Habitat also partners with homeowners across Dane County in need of interior and exterior repair work through the Habitat Home Repair program. Habitat also offers Financial Capability Training for families to work on their credit, budgeting and financial health so they are able to become homeowners by qualifying for traditional financing outside of the Habitat program.
