Xhavit and Emine’s home dedication
May 23 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
From Kosovo to Fitchburg, Habitat for Humanity of Dane County is helping an area family put down permanent roots during their Habitat home dedication on Thursday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m.
Soon-to-be Habitat homeowner, Xhavit, immigrated to the United States from Kosovo in 1999 during the war. Xhavit, along with his wife Emine, and four children – 11-year-old Vlera, eight-year-old Sara, five-year-old Enesa, and nine-month old Jakup – are looking forward owning their own home and living in the Fitchburg community.
“Our dream is coming true,” Xhavit said, “We always wanted a bigger space to live in and have our own backyard so our kids can lay in the grass, have a little pool or trampoline, and we can grill outside. Our children will have so much fun and build security.”
The home dedications will take place at 2428 Equity Lane in Fitchburg. The public is invited to meet the homeowners, take tours of the four-bedroom home, and enjoy refreshments.
“It means a lot to us to have a Habitat home. It’s a dream come true and we really appreciate that,” Xhavit said.
The home, sponsored by Alliant Energy and National Guardian Life, will mark the 282nd Habitat home built in Dane County and the 22nd home built in Fitchburg’s Renaissance on the Park neighborhood.
During the home building process, Habitat homeowners spend hundreds of hours on the construction site building their home. Prior to breaking ground on Xhavit and Emine’s home, employees at Alliant Energy and National Guardian Life built the home frame in their parking lot. The frame was then moved over to its permanent location in Fitchburg.
