Many groups support Habitat’s mission. There are many opportunities for churches, synagogues, businesses, civic groups and other organizations to help us bring the community together to build simple, decent, and affordable homes.
Lunches
Prepare/serve lunches for Saturday building crews and other specialty work dates. E-mail Megan Kenney or call 255-1549, ext. 104 for more information and to sign up.
Building Crews
Groups (3-8 people) are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays all year. Sign up to reserve a group volunteer date by e-mailing Megan Kenney or calling 255-1549, ext. 104. The construction schedule is usually set about 2 months out, so please call well ahead of time to reserve a date for your group.
Faith groups may wish to join an Apostles Build, where 12 faith communities join together to provide the volunteers and funds for one home. Apostles Builds are forming now for 2013.
Large groups from businesses wishing to volunteer can consider partnering on a specific home over multiple days for a deeper partnership via sponsorship or a one-day one-of-a-kind team building experience with a panel build in your parking lot.
Deconstruction Crew
Our deconstruction services are in high demand! Decon volunteers salvage reusable materials including wood flooring, cabinets, doors, etc. from area homes and businesses for resale in our Habitat ReStores. Deconstruction volunteers are scheduled on an as-needed basis, and all tools and training are provided. Check out our VolunteerHub site for any upcoming volunteer days.
Bake-a-thon
We like to keep our volunteers well-fed on the jobsite. Restock our freezer with treats (bars, cookies, etc.) for our volunteers by hosting a bake-a-thon with your group year-round. Twice a year, we need thousands of desserts for two special events: the SouperBowl in February and our Holiday Cookie Delivery in December. Host a Fundraiser
In addition to volunteers, it takes about $90,000 to build each Habitat home. We welcome your group’s assistance in helping us raise funds! Ideas include holding a supply drive for our wishlist items, host your own fundraiser to sponsor your build day, or help with our Thrivent Builds projects. We’ve had everyone from preschool groups collecting loose change and tools to a church women’s group holding a Friday Fish Fry. Calling All Youth!
Participate in Global Youth Service Day with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County! Youth of all ages are invited to join Habitat as we celebrate Global Youth Service Day in April.
